Hi, I’m Claudia (aged 20), the maker and designer behind Claudia’s Crochet.
I decided to set up this small business back in 2019 after crocheting things for family and friends. However my passion for crochet started at the age of 8 or 9 and I haven’t stopped since. Whenever I would visit my dutch grandma in the Netherlands, I would watch her, fascinated by the craft. So I asked her to teach me. This was only the absolute basics, but I learned all the skills that I have now through YouTube videos and patters, but mostly just through trial and error of designing my own patterns.
I have always loved to design and create my own creations as following patterns wasn’t much of a challenge to me. This meant that I could crochet anything that I want to and what other people wish me to create for them.
One yarn craft passion led to a multitude of other creative pursuits for me including needle punching, felting, embroidery, latch hooking, and various other crafts. I’m not sure whether you call it a hobby or an addiction, but I can’t stop myself buying more nice yarn and house plants. I’m not too sure exactly what my style is (I’m sure this will develop over time). Currently, my passion lies in crocheting a range of pieces, from realistic to adorable yet not-so-realistic animals, as well as bookmarks.
Not only is crafting a love of mine, but also photography. I have also loved taking photos of flowers and almost anything that I would come across on walks. I was also able to enhance my skills in my Photography A Level course making it easier and more enjoyable to take photos of my finished projects and products.
